Description: Duodecimo. 5 x 7.5 in. xii, 180 pp. Fair in original red cloth boards with black decorative titling and illustrated plate on the front. The cloth is fraying on the spine and the front hinge is split towards the top, as are the interior hinges. A prior owner has place a small black-and-white picture of Lofting on the lower front free endpaper, as well as two book plates on the interior front cover. The first book in the Dolittle series, inscribed by Lofting on the front free endpaper, "For Alice, with the Author's Sincere Regards, Hugh Lofting."
