Description: 9780896592339 / 0896592332 This is the First Edition - Second Printing - Special Edition of Disney Animation: The Illusion of Life. It has the cardboard casement, the authors autographs, and the filmstrip. The methods of Disney character development, including "two-dimensional" first attempts and the discovery of laws of animation, are discussed by experienced Disney animators and illustrated with more than thirteen hundred illustrations. The casement has a few small rubs and tiny edge-nicks. The book is definitely near-fine and I could not find any mar or blemeish. DJ has some minor edge wear but now in a dust jacket protector (which causes it to be quite snug in the slipcase. Housed in the publisher's near fine slipcase with original shipping carton. Film strip is of Mickey Mouse in wizard's hat and robe from Sorcerer's Apprentice - Fantasia.

In addition, a foot-long strip of 35mm film from a release print (with the optical sound track on one side) from "Snow White" is loosely laid in. The film is in a protective glassine sleeve; the colors are faded to a pinkish hue. Large, square, thick quarto in pictorial dust jacket with a pictorial slipcase showing Geppetto's workshop with a die-cut window revealing an illustration of a dancing Pinocchio outside on the dust jacket. Brimming with color and B&W illustrations. Condition: two small edge-tears (about 1/4") to the top edge of the dust jacket spine; else fine in a near fine DJ and slightly rubbed slipcase. 575 pages.

Description: A spectacular special edition signed by the authors on the limitation plate on the front endpapers, and including a foot of original film from a class Disney feature. The film is of a wise old owl on a tree branch, from Winnie-the-Pooh? Undetermined. The book is in fine red cloth and is in beautiful condition. 575 pp. The dustjacket is near fine with light sunning and small inconspicuous tears but is complete and beautiful with colorful sketches from "Pinocchio." The slipcase is solid with an attractive cutout on the front that permits the book to show through. There are light touches of wear on the colorful pictures from "Pinocchio" carried throughout. A very attractive edition that provides in-depth detail on the Disney world of animation. The book is very heavy but the price includes the extra postage necessary.
