Democratic National Convention Committee of 1936. THE DEMOCRATIC BOOK 1936. Unknown, Unknown, 1936.

Price: US$1450.00 + shipping

Condition: Good

Description: Folio size item (9lbs.). Original paperback rebound in a cheap leather binding and offered to supporters for the low price of $250. Of course at today's inflated prices that would near $5300. The value of the item is found sandwiched between beer and cigarette advertisement near the front of the book. Therein lies a wonderful portrait of the White House on superb stock suitable for framing and SIGNED by FDR himself. The limitation of this production was 2500 and this is number 2327 . This personalized (donor name on cover) volume shows rubbing at all corners and edges with a loss of an inch of spine leather due to someone trying to remove a nine pound item from the shelf. Other than that the grading could be near fine. For more info and/or additional photos please inquire.

Price: US$2395.00 + shipping

Condition: Near Fine

Description: ROOSEVELT, Franklin D. Signed Book, "The Democratic Book", 1936. Limited edition, numbered 1146 of an unspecified limitation, believed to be 2500. Gilt-stamped leatherbound hardcover, silk endpapers, gilt top edge. 11.5" x 14.5", 384 pages. Signed on the beautifully designed colophon in fountain pen by Roosevelt as "Franklin D. Roosevelt" below a watercolor vignette of the White House. The original owner s name, H.W. Rohl , is also stamped on the cover. Minor edgewear to leather, overall near fine condition and boldly signed. Accompanied by a matching custom-made clamshell box. Hans Wilhelm Rohl, was a German spy who collaborated with American officer Col. Theodore Wyman, Jr., to receive numerous contracts for US Army construction projects, including installations at Pearl Harbor. In 1944, a Congressional committee found that Rohl's possibly deliberate "mismanagement" had delayed the installation of an aircraft warning system that would have detected the approach of Japanese planes in the Pearl Harbor attack. An impressive and substantial book with a gorgeous signed page and an interesting WW II association. Book #vC2510. $2395. We specialize in Rare Ayn Rand, history, and science.
