Caroline Sleeper Harper was the wife of Joseph Wesley Harper Jr., a businessman and the son of one of the founders of Harper & Brothers, a prominent publishing firm. She was the mother of Henry Sleeper Harper, a passenger on the RMS Titanic who survived the sinking. Her husband, Joseph Wesley Harper Jr. (1825-1896), was the son of Joseph Wesley Harper, one of the founders of Harper & Brothers. He joined the firm in 1848 and became a partner in 1851.
