Rawlings, Marjorie Kinnan. CROSS CREEK COOKERY - Signed. Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1942.

Price: US$950.00 + shipping

Description: Robert Camp. First Edition. Signed by Author. New York: Charles Scribner, 1942. First Edition. A fine copy in near fine Robert Camp illustrated dustwrapper that has been skillfully & artfully restored at the spine extremities.8vo.,230pp. Published in 1942 by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, Cross Creek Cookery was a complimentary publication to her book Cross Creek, published in 1942. Florida painter Robert Camp provided various illustrations for Cross Creek Cookery. The same image that appears on the dust jacket was also printed on the linen cover of the original printing as seen in the photos. Various elements from The Actual CROSS CREEK are sketched throughout the cookbook amidst her well-sought after recipes such as Florida Backwoods Biscuits and Grandma Traphagen's Sugar Cookies. As per the words on the flap of the dustjacket ".THIS is not a cook book in the traditionalI manner, but it does contain over 250 recipes and some 30 menus for breakfast, luncheon, dinner, and camp dinners. It is,as the title suggests, a mouth-watering, evocative, and charmingly conversational discussion of cooking at Cross Creek. She has bound together her recipes by delightful little vignettes in the true Rawlings style. Grandma Traphagen's Sugar Cookies bring a nostalgic memory of the old time cooky jar in the farmhouse kitchen". A precious addition for any Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings collector.
