Description: Limited edition 204 of 1500. Signed to the limitation page by Sam Haskins and published by Haskins Press in 1975. Jacket slightly sunned and scuffed to edges. Small stain to the foot of the jacket spine, faint on the outside, darker to the inside. Book: grey boards slightly bumped to foot of spine (no staining). Slight spotting to upper face of page block. Slight sunning to page edges. A couple of faint spots to the edge of ffep, otherwise very bright. Large format: 27.5cm by 36.0cm approx. No further markings or inscriptions. Description: London, Haskins Press, 1975 ('Limited Edition')/ 1965. Large quarto, [155] pages, almost entirely comprising reproductions of Haskins' photographs. Grey papered boards lettered in black; a fine copy with the excellent dustwrapper (unevenly sunned about the spine and rear panel, with minimal wear to the head of the rear hinge). Number 549 of 1500 copies signed by the photographer. A contemporary review in 'The Guardian' stated that '"Cowboy Kate" is something new in photography: with great technical virtuosity, extreme selectivity, a poet's insight, and an artist's eye, Sam Haskins has produced a photographic fable or allegory'. And if 'The Guardian' is not your newspaper, the 'British Journal of Photography' said 'Sam Haskins has had the talent, stature, vitality - and the discipline - to cut figure photography free from the cliches, hesitancies, and vulgarities that continually inhibit it'.

A lovely, Fine copy: firm and square binding in sharp grey boards, lettered in black to the backstrip and upper; delightfully bright, crisp and clean. The unclipped and unpriced dustwrapper is likewise Fine: very crisp and vibrant. A superb example of an influential title.
