Orange cloth, lettered in copper foil. 1st ptg. 673 pp. Cover cloth rubbed along joints, with a few light soil marks, a few white spots on lower front cover, lettering and front cover illus. partially rubbed, a few light scratches to front cover, minor handling wear along text block edges. Dust jacket essentially as issued, in new mylar. Signed by author on half title in black ink; also, curiously, a second signature, smudged and rather faint, in pencil on upper title page with the "J" traced over in blue ink.

The jacket has a small ripple near the top of the spine (probably from incorrect storage). This copy has a bookplate from the Princess Cruise Line dated November 8, 1989, which has been signed by the author, affixed to the second front endpaper.

Description: A 3rd print (number line to 3) of Michener's novel about the Caribbean. Signed "James A Michener" on a plate affixed to the blank page preceding the half-title page. The plate reads "Commentating the North American Inaugural Cruise of Crown Princess", Michener's signature with James A Michener Special Guest Aboard Crown Princess and September 26, 1990 printed below. There are two candid photos of Michener laid in that are inscribed with a signature very similar to his, but I can't say they are his for certain. A very good or better book with a nice signature. A heavy, oversize book that may require additional postage.

Description: Hardcover with slipcase. Bright blue cloth-covered boards with orange-ish shiny stamping of a plant on the front cover, and gilt lettering and decorative stamping on the front cover. Cloth at the spine is a tad rubbed but the front cover's stamping is bright and untouched. Binding is square and tight. Dark blue paper-covered slipcase. Paper at the corners are rubbed, but very sturdy and secure. Colophon states that this is number 110 out of 1000 numbered copies that have been specially bound and signed by the author, with James A. Michener's signature is right below. No date on title page. Copyright page is dated 1989. Stated first edition. 672 pages. Interiors are clean and unmarked. Illustrations are by Franca Nucci Haynes.
