Description: First impression of the true first edition of the author's sixth novel. SIGNED by the author on the title page. ***Very good in blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. Boards clean and unmarked - edges of boards just slightly rubbed, and very slight unobtrusive surface mark to the bottom of the back board, not affecting the interior of the book. Head and tail of spine slightly rubbed. Internally also very good, with no inscriptions - but SIGNED by the author in blue biro pen on the title page. Pages clean. Spine tight. ***In a very good colour-illustrated dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of 25s net. Edges of dustwrapper slightly rubbed and creased, with a 3cm closed tear to the top edge of the front panel of the dustwrapper. Head and tail of spine slightly rubbed, nicked and creased. Very small unobtrusive splash mark to the tail of the spine of the dustwrapper, not affecting the boards underneath. Corners of dustwrapper slightly rubbed. Spine of dustwrapper slightly faded. Front and back panels of dustwrapper bright. ***204mm x 138mm. 230 pages. ***'Gene Hawkins, investigator (of a special sort) by trade, was expert at arranging events so that they appeared accidental to all involved.
