Signed and inscribed by Chase on front pastedown: "For Bill Welch, because I like him. Borden Chase. Encino 3/4/48." Chase was born Frank Fowler (1900-1971). He had a horse ranch in Encino, California. He has 53 screen writer credits for film and TV. The source for the film "Red River", directed by Howard Hawks and starring John Wayne and Montgomery Clift. The only copy of this scarce book we have seen signed.
