Description: First Edition. Color illustrations by Ruth Sypherd Clements. Inscribed by Booth Tarkington: "Inscribed with pleasure for Mr. H. Kourte, Booth Tarkington, July 10, 1941." VG/VG- in tight, bright red mesh woven cloth stamped brightly in gold, with holly and berries blindstamped on front cover. With rubbing to the top of the spine and a touch of sunfading. In the scarce pictorial dustjacket with a red bordered rectangle on the front panel proclaiming: "Frontispiece and Marginal illustrations for twenty pages in three colors. Untrimmed edges, gilt top. $1.25." Jacket is nearly separated along the front spine edge and has the price of "$1.25" also on the spine. Quite scarce in dustjacket, inscribed. First Edition.
