Price: US$1250.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: Octavo, 748pp., illustrated. A very good copy in the publisher's red boards with navy cloth spine. One corner numped, the page block sagging (as often), and the spine cupped, but still a sound, clean example. In a fine dust jacket. This copy SIGNED by Reagan on the leaf preceding the title page with a generic inscription: "With best wishes, Ronald Reagan." The overwhelming majority of signed trade editions we've seen in commerce were signed on bookplates which were later affixed to the book. As a personally inscribed example, this is an attractive copy, despite its minor blemishes.

REAGAN, Ronald. AN AMERICAN LIFE. Simon & Schuster (1990), New York, 1990.

Price: US$3125.00 + shipping

Description: Cloth-backed boards. Reagan's autobiography, illustrated with photographs. This copy INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the late President on the page with the publisher's logo preceding the title page: "To --- - With Very/Best Wishes,/Ronald Reagan/March 8 - 1991." Books genuinely signed by this popular President have become quite scarce and usually turn up with a signed bookplate rather than actually signed in the book, as the case here. Last we heard, the Reagan Presidential Library was still selling copies, though reprints, with a signed bookplate for $4,000. One should also be aware that the market has been flooded with fake Reagan signatures in books sold on ebay where "signed" often means forged.

Here, in his own words, is the story of his life, public and private, told in a book both frank and compellingly readable. Few presidents have accomplished more, or been so effective in changing the direction of government in ways that are both fundamental and lasting, than Ronald Reagan. Certainly no president has more dramatically raised the American spirit, or done so much to restore national strength and self-confidence. Here, then, is a truly American success story, a great and inspiring one. From modest beginnings as the son of a shoe salesman in Tampico, Illinois, Ronald Reagan achieved first a distinguished career in Hollywood and then, as governor of California and as president of the most powerful nation in the world, a career of public service unique in our history.
