Description: Greene’s first autobiographical volume, focusing on his early life, including his participation in a game of Russian roulette with a loaded gun, and the subsequent psychoanalysis he was subjected to. About fine in a nearly fine dw with two closed tears, one at the bottom of the front panel and one on the spine, and a bit of wear to the base of the spine. Uncommonly, briefly INSCRIBED by Greene on the front end paper. First state book, with a period in front of Sir John Barrie on page 177.

Description: First edition, second impression (1971), warmly signed and inscribed to the ffep by Graham Greene: "For Sue Robinson, after a lovely party, from Graham Greene / Cape Town Aug. 10 1971." Scarce signed. Near Fine: tight and square binding in sharp green cloth; minor wrinkle to the spine; publisher's topstain, faded; bears the bookplate of Basil & Sue Robinson to the front pastedown; an isolated, small coffee drop mark to p.155, else bright, crisp and clean. The unclipped dustwrapper is Near Fine+: crisp with vibrant colours; minimal rubbing to the extremities; presented in a removable, archival-quality Brodart protective cover. All orders are sent very carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and sturdy cardboard.

The recipient is Marcelle Sibon who translated a number of Greene's works into French from the 1940's onwards, although this title was entrusted to Georges Belmont and Hortense Chabrier.Fine in near-fine dustwrapper slightly rubbed at top edge.
