Description: First edition, first impression. Octavo, pp 349. Bound in black cloth covered hard boards, silver lettering and decoration to the spine and upper board; in the original price clipped dust jacket. SIGNED by the author to the title page. The book is clean and unmarked internally (other than the author's signature), with two small white marks at the bottom of the upper board, grades Near Fine. The jacket is Very Good with some brown spotting to the rear panel. Signed copies of this, the first trade edition, are much scarcer than the signed limited edition.

Description: A beautiful Limited Numbered First Edition signed by the author and numbered 992 of 1000 Limited Edition copies. Bound in half mushroom calf with blue calf boards. The book is in Near Fine condition with light aging to the light-colored calf leather and a contemporary p.o. name dated 1949. A tear in the blue calf board approx. 1/2" across at rear panel top edge. Very clean and bright with gold gilt on the top edge and rough cut pages. A lovely copy by an important American author.

London, William Heinemann This copy is in fine condition; the dust jacket (first state) is very good-plus, with quite minor wear at the corners; though the lower corner of the front flap is diagonally cut (but leaving the price), every copy we have seen is exactly like this. This copy is inscribed twice by Maugham. On the half-title, following the book's title, he wrote ?By W. Somerset Maugham his last book for Iain Littler? Then, in a different-coloured ink, and at a later time (see the Littler presentation copy of Points of View), he added after ?His last book?--?,as it seemed at the time. WM?
