le CARRE,JOHN.. A SMALL TOWN IN GERMANY.. Coward - McCann, Inc., [1968]., New York, 1968.

Price: US$1000.00 + shipping

Description: First U.S. edition. One of 500 numbered copies, specially bound and signed by the author. Gilt spine lettering somewhat tarnished (as is virtually inevitable with this title), else fine in the original glassine dust jacket with the publisher's presentation slip laid-in. Harting is missing and with him are forty-three files --- all of them Confidential or higher. It is vital that the Germans not learn of Harting's disappearance. With critical negotiations underway in Brussels, the timing couldn't be worse! Scarce title thus.
