Inscribed by Burroughs to his niece on the re-inserted (on a stub) front free endpaper: "To / Evelyn with love / from her uncle / Edgar Rice Burroughs / Oak Park / Nov 10 1917". Octavo. [xvi], [327], [1, blank] pages. With frontispiece and four illustrations by Frank E. Schoonover inserted throughout. Publisher's full brown cloth, front board and spine stamped in red. Book has been professionally restored, repaired and partially refurbished; it has been rebacked and recased, preserving most of the original spine. The hinges have been repaired, and, as previously mentioned, the inscribed front free endpaper has been re-inserted). Cloth spine a bit sunned, some rubbing, edgewear to boards, some rubbing to binding. Endleaves are toned and somewhat foxed, with some mild damage to pastedowns. Text a bit toned, with some bumping to upper corner of text. A good copy with an excellent association. Zeuschner, p. 249.
