Description: x, 51, [2] pp., large 8vo, full dark blue Nigerian straight-grained goatskin, gilt spine titling, marbled endpapers, paper-covered slipcase. Illustrated with two small wood engravings by Edward Walter, five tipped-in specimen pages, a line-block reproduction of a type specimen, and lithographic reproductions of two broadsides (housed in a pocket on the rear pastedown). Printed on Sommerville cream laid paper. One of the engravings by Walter is gold-blocked on an oval leather panel and inlaid onto the front cover. Published for the 50th anniversary of the oldest school press in England. With six essays each covering periods of ten years or so of the press, followed by a bibliography of the press's output. Only 20 deluxe copies were produced; this copy not numbered. SIGNED by the printer/publisher/proprietor John Randle on the colophon page, with the notation "press copy." A very good copy overall; contents fine, spine age-toned to a greenish-grey, some dark spots on the rear cover, slipcase with a couple of small faint smudges and age-toned edges.
