Robert Stone. A Hall of Mirrors. The Bodley Head, London, 1968.

Price: US$613.43 + shipping

Description: A first edition of the first novel from Robert Stone, which went on to win the William Faulkner Foundation Award and many others. Signed by the author to the title page. His best known work is characterised by action-tinged adventures, political concerns and dark humour. Many of his novels are set in unusual, exotic landscapes of raging social turbulence, such as the Vietnam War; a post-coup violent banana republic in Central America; Jim Crow-era New Orleans, and late 1990's Jerusalem. In a navy cloth binding with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, quite smart. Some light bumping and slight discolouration to the boards and spine. Dustwrapper is quite smart, though with some sunning to the spine and a few marks. Front hinge is slightly strained. Bookseller's label to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, and quite clean, with just a few spots. Very Good Indeed
