The book condition is just good - the exterior has some wear at corners and edges and some soiling. Interior interior is unmarked, tight and clean. Gilt top edge. The account of Dreiser and Booth, friends returning by auto to visit their hometowns and families in Indiana. Not a copy for the fine condition collector - a good copy only.

This very good copy comes with rare dust jacket. Very good- and good+ dust jacket. Dust jacket is missing portions at head and tail of spine, and a close tear along back cover, but remains intact. Boards show minimal shelf wear. Uncut textblock is clean and shows slight but even age-toning throughout. Page 173/4 is inserted as a cancel leaf consistent with the second state, and bound in green buckram spine consistent with first issue. Theodore Dreiser. Epitaph. New York: Heron Press Incorporated, 1929. Limited Edition, No. 471 of 1100. Quarto, un-numbered pages (29- leaf.) Bound in brown cloth with gray lettering to spine. Signed and numbered by Theodore Dreiser to dedication page. Printed on fine translucent handmade paper with each leaf folded at upper edge. Very good to good. Moderate fading to boards with wear to corners and edges. Missing a majority portion of spine cover, but title still intact. ¼ " splitting to upper and bottom joints and hinges.
