Description: 1st ptg., large 8vo, full red cloth, with Nancy Eckholm Burkert's haunting pencil sketches in red and black. Inscribed to Andrew Simon by Updike on the half-title, with gift inscription above in a different hand. Interestingly, the authorial inscription was started on the back free endpaper before being restarted and finished in the front. Fine in edgeworn, unclipped dj with short closed tear to front cover.
