The Webbs produced the Outsider from their small apartment in the French Quarter in the early 1960's. By day Gypsy Lou sold paintings on a street corner, and by night she set the type that introduced the world to the beat poet Charles Bukowski whose work Jon Webb also chose for their first two Loujon Press books- It Catches My Heart in It's Hands and Crucifix in a Deathhand. Each page of every copy of this issue of the Outsider was printed by hand individually on a 19th century clamshell press. This issue contains work by Miriam Patchen, Kenneth Patchen, Kay Johnson, Gary Snyder, Robert Creeley, Michael McClure, William Burroughs, Irving Layton, Diane Wakowski, Charles Bukowski, Henry Miller and many more.

Description: This copy, one of 777 printed and signed, was not only signed by Mr.Bukowski. but has a drawing signed in the forward, along with an inscription/momento written in the back of the book, and signed. I have an old friend of A/A, he was very well read/traveled.He'd actually acquired a couple of Bukowski's works and not to my surprise, each were signed; one specifically to Bruce. My friend had been badly burned during Vietnam, by a hydraulic fluid drum that exploded on the ship he was stationed onboard. Bruce, he was a character, an angry man to say the least so to have been given this after his passing, well it was touching to say the least! He (Bruce) like Bukowski was an alcoholic in every sense of the word, no doubt, so him having this one made perfect sense. And him, knowing my love for poetry, it wasn t much surprise it was this actual book he left for me. Authenticated by, David Meeker, Sacramento Ca. Andrea Boltresz, Australia. If you are interested in my beautiful book, I will certainly entertain questions, and offers, but absolutely nothing lower than the worth. This copy, one of 777 now for ($2,250. U.S.) printed and signed, was not only signed by Mr.Bukowski. but has a drawing signed in the forward, along with an inscription/momento written in the back of the book, and signed.
