Small spots of glue residue from 4 small pieces of tape formerly connecting the jacket to the pastedown endpapers - which have done an excellent job of protecting the book's beautiful cover. Description: The 24th book in the Oz series, this one written by Ruth Plumly Thompson carrying on the tradition of the original 14 stories by L. Frank Baum, maintaining the lovely illustrations of artist John R. Neill. Orig. published in 1933, this is a later (post-1935) Reilly & Lee reprint, with NO color plates, but lavishly illustrated in pen-and-ink by Neill throughout the book's 275 pages, with decorative endpapers by same. This edition has orange cloth over boards with a brilliantly colored paper pastedown to front cover & black lettering & design to spine (fancy publisher script, not plain). Condition is VG+: exceptionally clean & bright, NO wear or fading to front pastedown, very light rubbing to extremities. Interior is also very clean, text block secure but shaky, with 1 signature (pages 229-252) coming loose in its stitching. Hinges intact. Pages creamy white with a whisper of tanning to edges; no foxing or stains except for at base of spine & smaller, fainter stains on rear board. Ownership box is blank, all pages unmarked.
