William Makepeace Thackeray was a British novelist, known for his satirical work. He is perhaps best known for his novel 'Vanity Fair', which received much critical success. Incredibly popular with the Victorian reader, he was an influential literary figure of this time. So much so Charlotte Bronte dedicated the second edition of her work 'Jane Eyre' to Thackeray. Binders stamp to the front endpapers of each volume, 'Denny, 304. Strand'. Previous owners bookplate to the front of each pastedown, reads, Henry Grafford Rawson. In uniform half leather binding, with cloth boards and marbled endpapers. Externally smart. Slight rubbing to the head and tail of the spines. The odd mark to the front and rear boards of some volumes. Rubbing to the rear board of volume X is heavier. Rubbing to the front of volume XIX, with a small amount of loss to the leather. Previous owners bookplate to the front pastedown of each volumes. Binders stamp to the front endpapers of each volume. Internally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean,with the odd spot throughout each volume. Slight creasing to a few pages in volume XIX. Near Fine
