The jacket is uncommon and is also well preserved, just a touch of fading at the spine panel and with some expected edgewear, a few closed tears have been neatly repaired on the verso. FIRST EDITION SINCLAIR LEWIS IN DUSTJACKET. This book was quite well produced for a Depression Era printing and has thus survived much better than is typical for American books of the '30s. In this "living pageant of our times" Lewis presents the unending American pursuit of perfection and success through a multigenerational family of hoteliers. As we follow them from a tiny rural guest house to one of the largest hotels in the world we are shown a great panorama of America, filled with both sympathy and vitriol.
