Description: The cover has pale green cloth with black letters and rows of green decoration. The endpapers have an illustration of a woman in tattered clothes, surrounded by reaching hands. The setting for the beginning of the story is Berlin. The story is translated by Jenny Covan. Some of the front board has light foxing or water stain. The back board is more thus. The top end of the text block is gray; the other two ends are tanned. DJ: A paper, the same color as the DJ, is printed with $2.50, which is tipped in over the original printing of $2.00. The spine panel has darkened, the words are nearly illegible, and it has many chips and closed tears. The back flap's fold is split nearly halfway down. Chips and closed tears are elsewhere, mostly on three corners of the front panel. Scans e-mailed upon request.

Description: A sturdy little hardcover, no dust jacket. 1928. Stated 1st US printing. Light grey boards with green and black decorative title, ornament on front and spine. Some very light edgewear at corners. Pictorial endpages of a woman in rags. Translation by Jenny Covan. Uneven page edges as published. Hinges and binding stable and good. No previous owner marks. The author was a prominent anti-Nazi and as a result his books were banned and burned from 1939 onward. Dachau victim in 1945. Rare in reasonably good condition.

Description: 8vo, 253pp; gray cloth, pictorial endpapers. Melodramatic novel of the debauchery of a young woman. Reck-Malleczewen was a popular writer who ran afoul of the Nazi regime, which he vehemently opposed. He died at the Dachau concentration camp in 1945. The pictorial endpapers are by George T. Hartmann. Heavy erasure to the front endpaper; covers a bit marked and soiled, very good in a supplied second-printing dust jacket, chipped and with a long diagonal tear to the rear panel mended with tape on the underside.
