Description: Black boards, Front board and spine lettered in gilt. Spine cocked by about 8mm. One front corner gently bumped; none of them rubbed. Slight rubbing to the boards' surface but they look and feel good. Internally clean endpapers bear a neat contemporaneous name. The trace of a pencilled name to half-title. Crisp title page has the words 'Review Copy' stamped within a 2cm circle. No other faults. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall

There is a one inch stub remaining from the rear free endpaper and the endpapers are browned. Light browning to the pages which are otherwise unmarked. No jacket. First printing.

In the original dustjacket, priced 6/- net at lower spine, and measuring half a centimeter shorter than the book (as with all copies we have seen); gently spine-sunned, lightly edgeworn, with a few tiny nicks and tears at spine ends; Near Fine. A title for which there was no American counterpart, containing five essays written during World War I, all of which were previously published in the Fortnightly Review, New York Times, New York World, The Book of France, and The Book of the Homeless.
