Overall soil, wear at corners, spine ends and along edges, staining from previous tape near spine from before the book was rebacked, can see cloth repairs made to hinges on end papers, lacks original front free end paper. Description: Folio (12 2/8 x 9 2/8 inches). Half-title. 24 chromolithographed plates (some loose). Contemporary olive green pictorial bevelled cloth, gilt, all edges gilt (extremities a bit worn). First edition. "In the autumn of 1884 a happy party left Denver for a thirty days' trip in the mountains of Colorado.". Along the way Thayer gathered the wild flowers that she saw and painted them, accompanied by a pastoral account of the expedition. Later published as "Wild Flowers of the Rocky Mountains".
