An early collection of verse, illustrated by British surrealist painter and war artist Paul Nash (1889-1946). Small octavo. Original decorative paper-covered boards over a black cloth spine, with gilt titles. Typical mild toning to the contents. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Light fading and wear along the extremities of the boards; otherwise very good in a clear acetate dust wrapper.

The black and white pattern paper covered boards is from a Paul Nash wood engraving. The five wood engravings by Nash were commissioned by the Fleuron to illustrate this collection of poems by Robert Graves. A fine copy in glassine type Dust Jacket.

A hint of tanning to the leaf margins. A super copy of a beautifully produced volume of eighteen poems accompanied by a title page design and six delightful wood-engraved decorations. No dust wrapper called for, but missing the original unprinted glassine protector, but with a fresh sheet supplied. A possibly spurious pencilled notation to the front free endpaper reads "Curwen File (For Mr P.Nash)". Higginson A16 / Postan W68-W73.
