Description: One of 975 copies. 8vo. Wrappers. Unpaginated (36pp.). Previously issued by mimeograph in 1943 though without 'War Elegy V', which is included here. Good only, the wrappers tired with creasing at the fore edge and fading to the spine, the creasing more moderate internally. This copy has the ownership inscription of the jazz critic Charles Fox.

Collection of eleven poems reflecting the poet's pacifist philosophy, the last one written "in 1943 shortly after my induction into a camp for conscientious objectors here on the Oregon coast." This version published November 1944 in an edition of 975 copies. Preceded by a mimeographed version lacking "War Elegy V." Pale orange paperwraps printed in blue and black; approximately 6.25 x 9.5". Covers sunned along spine fold, tanned along edges, and showing some scuffing and small stains; rear lower corner chipped. Still a good or better copy of this fragile production with interior nearly fine.

This copy one of 30 numbered copies using the original printed sheets bound in leather-covered boards with gilt-stamped lettering and signed by Everson on the limitation page. Copy #7. Hand-set in Goudy Light Oldstyle and Futura types and printed in Linweave Early American. Illustrated by Kemper Nomland, Jr. Text includes the addition of "War Elegy V." Leather boards have minor edgewear, especially at the spine ends, few light rubs and a small scratch on the rear board and two small ink stains at the bottom spine fold; text pages are bight and clean and in Fine condition, Overall, in Very Good condition. The first title of the Press.
