Black textured softcovers, yapp edges, punch sewn at gutter margin w/ black silk ribbon (slight shelfwear, very slight bumping to lower corners), still VG copy. First edition of this remarkable yearbook published during the Great Depression when the enrollment and staffing numbers at the Centralia Junior College located at the time on the third floor of Centralia High School had fallen dangerously low. The photos reveal hazing rituals, sporting events, dances, theatre productions, as well as an extended ski trip to Mt. Rainier with photos of skiers, ski jumping, and the members at the time. Of particular interest is the group of 12 photographs showing the opening night of Disney's Snow White at the Fox Theatre in downtown Centralia, hosted by the Men's Club, with the organizers in costume, and photos taken during the running of the film and carefully mounted in sequence inside the yearbook. Founded in 1925,Centralia Junior College began with 15 students and 6 instructors, with not tuition, and by 1929 the enrollment had expanded to 133 students and offered courses in many areas, but as a result of the Great Depression, enrollment plunged, and the college nearly bankrupt because the banks had failed. Dean Margaret Corbet asked each of the staff members what they could survive on, and business leaders in Centralia acted as loan guarantors to keep the College scraping by for a few years. Description: 1st Edition. 33.5 x 24.7 cm landscape Dean & Son, London. Glossy thick cardboard cover and three 24.5x66 cm gatefold cardboard sheets with cut-outs. Complete and unused. The front cover shows Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the rear the layout of the finished model. The inside covers are a diorama showing the forest and The Seven Dwarfs' cottage. This set is unusual in that it has three sheets of cut outs, one with the Prince, Snow White and the Dwarfs and two identical sheets with the Dwarfs, a cottage and woodland creatures.
