Description: Green cloth with gilt spine titling, and gilt borders to front framing a full-panel illustrated title plate. Boards scuffed, edgeworn, and sunned to spine, with the gilt at spine rubbed and faded. Spine cocked forward. Binding sound. Faint water stain to top of textblock, extending occasionally into top margin of the interior throughout text, though mostly through the first approximately fifty pages. Foxed to top of textblock, and occasionally to the top margin of interior throughout. Interior else clean, with no prior owner's names, underlining, or marginal notes. With eight color plates by illustrator Ethel Everett, all present.

Pale green dust jacket with color illustrations to panels and spine; strong rubbing with some soiling and staining; chips and tears at edges and along flap folds; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Green cloth; some flaking/dulling to spine's otherwise still easily legible gilt stamping; front board decorated with color pictorial paste-on (matching dj front panel illustration); light staining to rear board. Text block edges toned; toning to illustrated endpapers; six of the book's eight unpaged color plates have slender moisture staining mostly at their fore-edge margins; interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm.
