Blue cloth with titles and decoration in gold, top edge gilt, fore-edge untrimmed, map end-papers, numerous illustrations by Kent. Light wear, some evidence of damp-stain at spine heel, not noticeable in contents. Dust jacked chipped and edge-worn with some evidence of damp on spine and some loss. Bookseller accession no.: 19124. An account of Kent's unsuccessful attempt to sail around Cape Horn in a converted lifeboat; much of this adventure was over land, not sea.

Despite the flaws a nice copy of this terrific book.

In addition, he served as base commander at Halley, Faraday and Rothera stations. His library collection was built over decades and highlights his love of polar exploration.Thoroughly illustrated. In the original publisher's blue cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to front board and spine. Externally smart with slight shelfwear, minor rubbing to top joint. Slight bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Gilt to front board is slightly rubbed. Kenn Back's bookplate to recto front free endpaper.
