Description: 12mo. Two volumes in one, the first being Gleig's account of Sale's battles with Afghan forces, the siege of Jellalabad, and the breakout of British forces in 1841-42. Gleig was the principal chaplain to Sale's forces and provides a stirring account. The second book is Barrow's famous biography of Sir Francis Drake. Bound in half leather with wide gilt decorated spine hubs and contrasting spine labels, marbled boards and endpapers. Leather lightly rubbed, otherwise quite nice. A tight copy.
