No 1569 of a limited edition of 3000, Book size - 34 x 24.5 cm., pp.147 + 1, numerous colour and b&w illustrations in the text (some tipped in), thin card covers in dustjacket. Book condition - Good plus ; contents clean, no inscriptions, no foxing,binding firm ; thin card covers in good condition and clean. spine complete with a little loss at the ends, spine with vertical creases but the title remains complete and clear ; dustjacket some some rubbing/slight loss at the corners, back and front clean ; dj. now in clear, removable wrapper. Please see photos for indications of condition and contents. Paul Éluard (1895 -1952), was a French poet and one of the founders of the Surrealist movement. He adhered to Dadaism and became one of the pillars of Surrealism by opening the way to artistic action politically committed to the Communist Party. . He became known worldwide as The Poet of Freedom and is considered the most gifted of French surrealist poets. (Biographical summary from Wikipedia. In this work, the illustrations are quality reproductions of works by well-known and less well-known artists and each is acompanied by a poem by Eluard.
