Description: Two volumes--485 pages plus ads and 426 pages. Index. Six-Guns #1280. Both volumes are SIGNED to Gen. James H. Baker. (Gen. Baker served as a Colonel in the 10th Minnesota Regiment in 1862 and 1863. He was later appointed Provost Marshal for the Department of the Missouri and served there until the end of the Civil War. He was appointed Brevet Brigadier General on March 13th 1865. Minnesota 10th Regiment was organized at Ft. Snelling, Fought in several battles against the Sioux Indians known as Sibley's Campaign in Minnesota, served at the execution of Sioux Indians in Mankato in December of 1862 then served on Sibley's Expedition against the Sioux in Dakotas in 1863. Later the 10th served in the Western Campaign of the Civil War moving as far south as Tupelo, MS and pursued Hood on the Tennessee River in 1864. The unit lost 152 men during the Civil War of which 37 were killed in action.) Original gilt stamped pictorial cloth bindings. Both volumes are ex-library with markings on spine, title page, copyright page, 1st page of contents, pocket and check out label on rear endpapers. Covers are bright, edges and corners are lightly worn, cracked rear hinge on volume two. Internally, both volumes are clean and tight. Very good. (108) Signed
