The story of Robinson Crusoe, written by Daniel Defoe, illustrated with numerous black and white sketches plus ten exquisite color plates by renown Brazilian graphic artist Carybé. Colophon: 5,040 copies on Swiss Offset paper, specially made by Elof Hanson of Göteborg, numbered from 1 to 5,040. This work is one of the earliest artistic efforts in the career of Carybé, at the time still living in Buenos Aires. Cortázar's translation also came early in his career, when he was age 30, and still living in Buenos Aires. Carybé has lived most of his live in Bahia, Brazil; Cortázar in Paris, France. Stiff, white, pictorial wrappers printed aqua, dark brown, light brown, and red; blue and black lettering printed across the spine; illustrations; color plates; signatures hand-sewn with white thread; dust jacket with identical design printed aqua, dark brown, light brown, and red; blue and black; illustrations.
