Frontis. 294pp. 18mo, contemporary calf, contemporary leather label, on lower spine is later lettering of the title, spine ends and edges of corners worn, calf moderately rubbed, front flyleaf loose, following blank page partially loose, scattered light foxing, mostly to margins, some pages with light foxing, some pages browned, endpapers partially browned, modern pencil annotations on front flyleaf and bottom margin of Frontis. Charleston: Printed for the Authoress, by James L. Burges, 1832. First Edition Author was a baptist preacher from New Hampshire, who travelled widely in the United States. Pages 150 to 253 are on her stay in Kirtland, Ohio with the Mormons, where she became opposed to Joseph Smith and Mormonism. Howes T-312.
