Price: US$15.59 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: No date (circa. 1930). Third printing of the first edition. The book was originally published by Herbert Jenkins in 1928. ***Very good in orange cloth-covered boards with black titles to spine and front board. The boards are nice and clean without any damage. Off-setting to rear pastedown. Paper clean with hardly any marks and no tears. Spine tight. No inscriptions - however, please note that the front free endpaper has been removed. No dustwrapper. ***312 pages plus and eight-page publisher's catalogue at the back of the book. 192 mm x 130 mm. ***'"Money for Nothing" is a novel by P. G. Wodehouse, first published in the United Kingdom on 27 July 1928 by Herbert Jenkins, London, and in the United States on 28 September 1928 by Doubleday, Doran, New York. Immediately prior to publication it appeared as a serial, in London Calling magazine (UK) from 3 March to 28 July 1928 and in Liberty magazine (US) between 16 June and 22 September 1928. The action is mostly set at Rudge Hall (inspired by Hunstanton Hall, in Norfolk), home to miser Lester Carmody, and at Healthward Ho, a health farm run by "Chimp" Twist, along with his cohorts "Soapy" and "Dolly" Molloy, who all previously appeared in "Sam the Sudden" (1925), and returned in "Money in the Bank" (1946). Hugo Carmody, Lester's nephew, and his friend Ronnie Fish also appear at Blandings Castle, home of Ronnie's uncle Lord Emsworth, in "Summer Lightning" (1929) and "Heavy Weather" (1933)' [Wiki]. *** A classic P. G. Wodehouse title in an early printing, in nice original condition. A good period reading copy. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.

Description: WODEHOUSE, P.G. VERY GOOD, JEEVES. Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Doran, 1930. Small 8vo., orange cloth in dust jacket; 340 pages. First Edition (so stated on the copyright page). There is an interesting story behind the dust jacket for this title and, if your copy is price-clipped, don't worry- apparently they all are! The publisher either didn't put a price or clipped it from all of the dust jackets and issued with book with a wrap-around band that advertised the book had been reduced from $2.50 to $2.00 and was now selling for $1.00, probably due to the Depression affecting sales. The dust jacket has the code "746" on the front flap and "743" on the rear flap. Very Good (little soil covers & little wear head of spine; little minor discoloration rear pastedown); little soil & minor edgewear (clean one-inch tear) d/j. $500.00.
