Original cardboard cover with original dust jacket. 1st edition. French language edition. With 26 mounted colour reproductions from the illuminated manuscript of the Duc du Bourgogne on plates, juxtaposed with 26 sheet-sized black and white lithographs after Chagall. Dust jacket rubbed mainly at the edges, dust jacket there also with a larger, unbacked tear (approx. 10 cm) and further professionally backed tears, pages only minimally darkened, otherwise very good copy. From the Revue Artistique and Litteraire, Verve, First edition, Chagall's wonderful graphic interpretation of Boccaccio's Decameron in luminous washes paired with an original, coloured medieval print of the same scene. This series of the Revue was edited by Teriade and features 26 India ink photogravures by Chagall and a lithograph dust jacket. This book is in very good condition, the dust jacket shows some wear and the pages show some very slight yellowing at the edges. 10 1/2" x 14" (27 x 36 cm) Très bel exemplaire / A lovely example.
