Description: VG. Ex-lib from college library collection, with associated marks, spine label, etc. Ink library stamp to fore edge of page block. Top edge gilt. Very clean overall, mild shelf wear, very minor fraying to head of spine. Micro-bump to top edge of front board, approx. 1mm. Light foxing to ffep and half-title. Occasional mildly yellowed patches to margins adjacent to spine at various points throughout, probably due to binding paste. Hinges and binding still strong. Pages clean. If not for library markings, we would grade this NF. According to library card, book was borrowed only four times. Bookplate and gift notation plate to front pastedown; donor was Richard Hathaway, academic legend in central Vermont.

Description: This book is hard-bound in a fine binding of brown leather, with gilt stamping and raised bands on the spine. The binding is signed at the bottom of the upper paste-down, "Rowfant Bindery." The covers show some light scuffing, edge-wear and light rubbing to the corners. There is some wear to the joints, and white paint splatter on t he lower cover. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and clean.

Spine label lacking. Most of outermost rear paper over paper board lacking, with the interior folding flaps remaining and laid in. Front joint split 2" at head. Front paper detaching from paper board. Spine worn, especially at tips, and rubbed. Owner's name and date to FFEP. Light dampstaining to the last 60 or so pages and rear paper board. Description: The first American edition, published by the Ball Publishing Company in 1908. This is copy number 126 of 160 copies in the limited edition. Bound in flexible boards with a stiff paper over wrap. Book housed in original ( and exceedingly uncommon ) white glazed paper slipcase. The book is near fine with a quite lovely gift inscription and some toning to the stiff paper overlay. The slipcase is near fine with a bit of wear to its edges and a little bit of rubbing.
