Slight wear and uneven discoloration to edges of gently rubbed wrappers with light bumping to forecorners. Light wear to ends of faded spine with more significant bumping to head end with faint creasing that extends into wrappers. VG in wrappers.

Description: The first English-language edition, printed by the Compton Press and limited to 1,000 numbered copies (although it would appear that none of them were actually numbered). 8vo. 71pp. Lettered card wrappers with French flaps. A trace of very light wear to several corner tips. Very good indeed. Auster's three-page introduction precedes sixty-seven pages of poems. This is generally considered to be Auster's second book following his verse collection 'Unearth' (1974), although strictly speaking 'Living Hand' was a periodical, issued "several times a year".

Description: SIGNED, without inscription, by Paul Auster on the title page. This copy has the hand pencil correction, apparently by Paul Auster, of "into" (for "to") on the eleventh page of the text. The volume is sunned on the spine, lightly toned on the perimeters, and both the cover and pages have a mild bump on the bottom corner. Still very good with tight binding.

Slim 8vo. Unpaginated. Lettered card wrappers, lightly faded at the spine and with a narrow strip of very faint toning to the fore edge margin of the upper wrapper, yet still considerably fresher than is usually found. This copy inscribed in pencil at the head of the first leaf by the printer Humphrey [Stone] to his brother-in-law Jonathan [Gili]. Very good indeed. Thirty-three poems, the author's first book, preceded only be a couple of translations from the French.
