Description: 1920 Ex-library, with expected library markings. Red cloth covered boards show heavy wear with rubbing and fraying of the cloth. Front exterior hinge is frayed to the extent that the boards are bare. Front interior hinge is broken. Page 135 has 1" wide ? 4" long piece missing from the margin, text is not affected. This is the only page of the text block that shows any damage. Text block shows age tanning. Book was donated to Friends of the Omaha Public Library.

Description: 4to - over 9¾. xxii, 265 pp. 12 full page illustrated plates. The Gift Edition, with (1) on final text page. With many text illustrations of Brer Rabbit, Brer Wolf and the whole cast. Every page of the stories themselves has decorative framing of branches forming smaller cameo compartments with different members of the cast shown in each such frame, and while the decoration repeats itself, there are several templates so there is variety from one page to the next. Green decorated cloth binding has a lot of soiling and dampstain. Wear along edges, corner. Some foxing in the preliminaries, but most text pages are clean. The binding is tight, with new endpapers inserted.

Binding edgeworn and quite rubbed (spine gilt heavily so), but overall a tight, decent, serviceable copy. Later printing ("Gift Edition") of the Frost-illustrated 1895 edition of this 1881 classic.

Front joint cracked and front cover barely holding with a very small amount of webbing, front flyleaf with a gift inscription is detached from text block. First signature nearly detached. Internally this book is very clean and tight and worthy of some attention. PayPal accepted.

Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages and edges are clean. Charming previous owner inscription dated Christmas 1926 on front free endpaper. With an Introduction by Thomas Nelson Page. All pages are decorated with a beatuiful elaborate border. One page (page 85/86) has been roughly opened and has a 4" diagonal tear. Illustrations throughout by A. B. Frost and E. W. Kemble. 265 pages. Size approx. 7-1/2" x 10".

Description: VG+/later printing. Very nice copy of this 1920 edition of Uncle Remus. Spine has some fading, but gold lettering is still present, and the front and rear panels have retained their color very well. No wear to heel of boards, and corners are reasonably straight and sharp. Not part of the Gift Edition, not an Ex-Library copy either. Binding is firm and hinges are complete and intact. Some light tanning on endpapers, interior is bright, with no foxing present. All illustrations present. Just a lovely copy of this beloved book.
