Condition: Very Good

Description: First printing (publisher's code "A-S"), variant binding, in a smaller format than the more common first edition in dark green cloth. Bound in flexible leatherette maroon boards. Very good, the glassine wrapper is not present. The book has a little wear at the edges of the maroon cloth, mainly along edges of spine and at spine ends. The first three letters of the publisher's name at the bottom of the spine are worn away, and there is slight loss to the title lettering near the top of the spine. The front hinge is just slightly separated after the half title page, but still tight. Endpapers are somewhat browned, although interior pages are still bright. This binding was issued at the same time as the much more common green cloth binding, but most of these were shipped overseas to servicemen.
