Description: Large, thick octavo. Tapa cloth over boards. Usual faint tanning to spine, otherwise about fine in very good slipcase with some wear at the corners. Copy #1348 of 1500 numbered copies, printed at the Harbor Press, illustrated in color by Miguel Covarrubias, and signed by him. With an important Introduction by Raymond Weaver, who has inscribed this copy prominently on the free endsheet: "To Eleanor Metcalf with faithful regards Raymond Weaver 22 January 1936." An excellent association copy: the recipient was Melville's granddaughter and for decades a touchstone for Melville scholarship.
