Boards have rubs, stains, bumped/nicked corners; gold stain from glue residue? where cover use to be applied to boards (assuming this to be the case since it's a library copy). Spine edge dirty. Pages have some smudges, brown stains, some pencil marks, tanning. However, text is clear. Binding tape between first illustration and title page near spine. Binding is cocked.

Osgood & Co." on title page. 8vo. 303 pp. Green cloth binding with decorative black and gold designs and titles, all edges gilt (a scarce feature of this edition). The first edition, first printing of a very early reprint, taken from the Osgood plates (first American edition). The book has been carefully professionally restored by Virginia Meredith Chicago Illinois, a fine binder for the Newberry Library other wise a very good bright copy, comes with an extra hand water colored engraving of Captain Nemo laid in.
