Page edges lightly dust stained. Internally end-pages age toned, with previous owners name penciled to top of 1st free end-page, and with some notes in both pencil and ink to rear free end-page. Otherwise, a very good, clean copy.  The dust jacket is still in one peice but quite shelfworn, with wear to all edges and folds (including small chips and tears). All corners of the jacket have been clipped.

Extraordinary collaboration and photo-documentation of the famous photographer Bourke-White and southern author Caldwell. Text and the collection of striking b/w photographs depict the rural American South and its troubles. A disclaimer at the front of the book reveals that legends and captions under the photographs "are intended to express the authors' own conception of the sentiments of the individuals portrayed; they do not pretend to reproduce the actual sentiments of these persons." Binding rubbed with light wear along edges, faint fraying at head and tail of spine. Book block with normal age-toning. Binding and interior in overall good+ condition.
