Description: Eighty-seventh thousand. An overall good copy with bright and clean pages. Boards are very good, with some rubbing, particularly to spine, and bumped corners. Illustrated endpapers. Front hinge feels slightly loose. Small dated inscription to top right corner of title page. Slight foxing to front and rear few pages, and a few cases of very light foxing to text, but mostly bright and clean pages. Some light foxing to frontispiece tissue guard, but frontispiece itself in excellent condition, with no foxing. Page 162 and plate opposite has been rebound with cellotape. Some spine splitting. Blue-green cloth binding, illustrated on the front board in black, blue and white of Jim in the rigging pointing two pistols at his pursuer. Titling in gilt on the spine. Clean text; map of the island in black, red, brown and blue; followed by an illustrated half-title; viii, 202 pages. Large award label on the front paste-down awarding the Form Prize during Summer Term 1900. There are two publisher catalogs in the rear. The first (ten pages) features reproductions of the author's signatures; followed by a 16-page version in text-only. Slight lean; rubbing to the margins; minor spotting within.
