Contains red and black copy of the author's original map, additional tissue-guarded engraved title page, vignette to the second title page (as per the first Cassell illustrated edition of 1885), (viii), 292 printed pages of text with 24 full-page single-sided illustrations by a number of different unidentified artists from the first Cassell illustrated edition of 1885, tailpiece + publisher's advertisements dated April 1898. Spine slant, tanning to the tissue guard, light spotting to the text block edges, rubbing across the spine ends and corners, small hole to the centre of the spine and in Good condition.
