Description: First American Edition (The First Edition was published in England in 1804.) Full leather with the red title slip fully intact. Early bookplate of Stephen B. White, small area of corner dampstain on frontispiece not affecting text or drawing, small area of corner dampstain on final two blanks, slight foxing, nice intact binding and internals, Very Good. Barrow (1764-1848) was attached to the first British embassy to China from 1792 to 1794. He later was appointed Second Secretary to the Admiralty, a post he held for most of his working life. During his work at the Admiralty, he promoted Arctic voyages of discovery.
