Description: 107 pp. Rare Americana Series, No. 9. Six full-page plates. Originally published in 1853, the author listed as "A Fur Trader" (believed to be Ogden of the Hudson's Bay Co.), the title describes life west of the Rockies between 1830 and 1840. Both front, rear endpapers, darkened. Text fine. Two tears, paper label on spine, otherwise binding and cover label are very good. Very slight darkening to cover.

Description: Peter Ogden is believed to be the author of this book. He was a member of the Hudson Bay Company. Book has a clear sleeve protecting the boards. The corners and the spine tips show some wear. A few spots of wear overall on the boards. Paper title paste on present and looks bright. The hinges and the spine are good. Laid in announcement page of "One More Book" laid in. Slight tanning on the endpapers. 107 pages. The inside pages are bright and look unmarked. The 6 illustrations called for are all present.

Cloth-backed boards, paper labels on spine and front cover. A very fine copy. First published in London in 1853, this intimate sketch of the Indians of the far west and their contacts with roving trappers is believed to have been authored by Peter Skene Ogden (1790-1854), the famous fur trader of the northwestern frontier. This edition adds plates from De Smet's "Missions de l'Oregon.," 1848. [Grabhorn: 189].
