Description: 12mo. 16 by 10 cm. 34, [2]. 4, [4] pp. Five plates with Cruikshank illustrations, plus vignettes by Cruikshank on cover, title and last text page. Last four pages noted are two advertising sheets tipped in by publisher, with their size slightly smaller, content on both sides of each sheet. First issue point of pages 28 and 29 misnumbered 21 and 22. Condition: spine, which was distinct -- more than just a fold, has lost most of the wrap paper, and exposed are the gathering folds. Wraps on cobver heavily soiled. Light scattered soiling on the leaves within but reads mostly clean. Clamshell box, with nice walls built to nest the booklet, has some light scratching but one can easily grade Near Fine. Wraps. Modern Quarter Morocco, cloth, clamshell box.

Custom clamshell case, quarter morocco, with cloth exterior elsewhere, marbled paper pastedown interior, and substantial walls creating well for the booklet.

Full later tan calf, spine with gilt stamped devices and gilt red morocco label, covers double ruled in gilt with gilt stamped edges, elaborate gilt stamped inner dentelles, blue marbled endpapers, t.e.g. (slight rubbing; small nick at head of spine). This copy has no advertisements. Very good. Gilt stamped red morocco bookplate of Henry W. Poor. Cohn 615: "The first issue.is scarce."
